"I'm obviously on Prince Harry's side," McKellan, 85, told the Times of London while browsing the duke's memoirs in a profile published on Friday, September 6. "Imagine being born into the royal family. I've been in public for a bit, and these people are in prison."

Harry continued at the time: "I will always love (my family), but a lot of pain has happened, and I will continue to work to repair this relationship."

"Hats off to people like the (late) Duke of Edinburgh who managed it, even though even he was very eccentric and probably very unhappy. The same goes for the current King," McKellan quipped to The Times. "(Charles) has managed to survive but is clearly damaged. As for Harry, maybe he's not smart enough or he doesn't have the right friends to help him. I'm telling you, he had the right to choose from all the beautiful women in the world. I hope he has the right one in [Meghan]."
