Angelina Jolie got really emotional after getting an amazing eight-minute standing ovation at the Grand Theatre during the world premiere of Maria at the Venice Film on Thursday night (29). The actress, famous for her strong performances couldn’t hold back as she wiped them, sometimes turning away the loud applause.
At the premiere, 49-year-old
Jolie warmly hugged Pablo LarraÃn, the director of this biographical drama,
along with the cast, sharing that touching moment together. Variety also
mentioned that Maria is already being considered a strong contender for the
Oscars. This could mean Angelina Jolie might be in the running for Best Actress
for the first time in 15 years.
When she showed up at the theater, Jolie took time to sign autographs and snap selfies with fans. One especially sweet moment happened when she met an Italian fan named Pasqualino Esposito. The fan is suffer from osteogenesis imperfecta, also known as "brittle bone disease." a familiar face at the Venice Film Festival, arrived on the red carpet in a bed. Jolie knelt down next to him & shared a brief but sincere conversation. “She’s have a very big heart," he shared later to a Hollywood reporter.
Maria, the film is near to everyone’s heart, tells the
“tumultuous, beautiful, and tragic story” of legend Maria Callas. In 1970s when
Maria Callas focusing on her last days in Paris. At a press conference on Thursday, Jolie talked about how hard it was to prepare for her role especially since singing opera was new to her. "I was terribly nervous," she said while remembering how she spent almost seven months training to sing. "Pablo demands you really do the work & truly learn."

singing performance. They helped calm her nerves by making sure no one
interrupted her privacy. Thinking about her journey, she said, "Pablo

grow."
When asked about possible Oscar chances, Jolie just wanted to honor Maria Callas's memory & show respect for her legacy. “My fear would be to disappoint them,” she shared about Callas's devoted fans. "If there’s any response to my work, I’m very grateful but… I really grew to care for her."
Maria Callas was is the famous singer renowned of the 20th century. She had an American-born Greek background. LarraÃn expressed that he wanted his film toportray Callas's life not as a story of tragedy, but rather as the journey of a woman who cared deeply for others while trying to discover herself. Despite tough times like a hard childhood & battles with weight and love issues, LarraÃn wants to shine a light on her strength.
Jolie found something personal in connecting with Callas because they both showed vulnerability. "There’s so much I won’t say here that you might guess," she mentioned. "I related to her softer side she didn’t have space in this world to be as soft as she was.”
As fans & critics keep raving about Jolie's performance in Maria, Netflix has grabbed US distribution rights for the film—but no release date is set yet according to Variety.
